Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Currently working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden trophy following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt since that period of that year.

The win also signifies he has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my two daughters together, so to win a championship is really nice," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his last six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring outbursts on court had led observers to question if his capacity to compete at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete aggressively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his first professional victory, gained dominance to create a final set.

He defended 4 early-game chances in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, he clinched the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
