Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the last five grands prix.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the points lead from his teammate by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team opted for a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, though minor, when he spun at corner four soon after starting.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before sliding over the gravel trap, and was fortunate to get away with just a minor contact of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the fast downhill corner leading to the last turn on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th place, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's car in third, 0.619secs off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
